When users tap to add a sticker to a photo or video in stories, they’ll see a new GIF option. Tapping it will open a library full of moving stickers powered by GIPHY. Instagram users can browse the trending GIFs on GIPHY or search their library to find a suitable sticker. The animated stickers are aimed to help users make any photo or video funny, interesting or creative.

In the coming weeks, Instagram will also be rolling out the ability to upload photos and videos of any size to a story. When users upload a photo or video, they will be able to pinch to share it in its original dimensions, whether it’s square, portrait or landscape. Any extra room will be filled with a custom colour gradient that matches what is being shared.
GIF stickers are available today as part of Instagram version 29 on iOS and Android. Improvements to Stories uploads will be available in the coming weeks.
